🌲 🏗️ Vista Cottage 🚧 🌲
On this wet and cold January we set up site for our first new project of 2026.
This gem of a home sits in one of West Berkshires hot spots and while unassuming at the front has one of the best Vistas we’ve come across in years, today may not be the best to see the far reaching views but trust us it’s stunning.
Our mission in line with the clients brief is to add a new side extension connecting into the existing ground floor offering modern contemporary open plan living, dining and entertainment space. Of course there is a snug for those cosy up nights.
New bifold and sliders installed to maximise the outlook on a damp day or open for the Alfresco life.
Externally we replace roof coverings, doors and windows and then clad the whole house in a thermal wrap with new platinum render offering a significant uplift in performance.
Ooh and a terrace to enjoy those long British Summer Days.

We finished up a lovely kitchen refurbishment in Ball Hill last week. Opening up the room with new structural steelwork flush into the ceiling to really open up this wonderful space making it light and usable.
Updating the kitchen with a green sage colour palette topped with a stunning quartz top brings this kitchen into the modern world.
Behind the scenes and photos, a new utility room and new flooring throughout. One happy family in with plenty of time before Christmas to enjoy the space with family over the festive period.

Project Complete! 🚧🔨🎉
Our Tydehams works came to an end back in September. This 6/7 month project was a real pleasure to be a part of, with the challenges of a no dig foundation to protect the surrounding trees all the way to the intricate details of the soffit and gallows brackets to seamlessly blend old into new. This two storey extension comprising of a huge 1.5x garage, utility room, new stairway up to a bedroom with en-suite, all decked out with underfloor heating really brings the house together.
Smiles all round from the client and ourselves and as always, on to the next! 💪

Our Inkpen Primary School Project wrapped up last

Our Inkpen Primary School Project wrapped up last week, all in plenty of time for the new school year.
With the old uninhabitable classroom blocks removed and the freshly laid tarmac down to extend the playground, its smiles all round for everyone involved in this project.
Quality, ahead of schedule and on budget.
Enjoyed working with West Berkshire Council and Trigon Project Management on this one. Looking forward to more collaborations in the future.

🚧 New Project Underway 🚧
Our misleadingly named project Calcot, in Abingdon, is well underway! This full bungalow refurbishment is going to bring a damp and outdated property up to its potential. Working alongside @abearandballarchitects on this one we are adding a first floor to this bungalow with 3 new dormers to allow for an additional 2 bedrooms and a family bathroom upstairs. All the while remodelling the existing spaces downstairs to a better purpose, with rooms a plenty. Don’t forget to scroll through to see the plans! Stay tuned for how we bring those to life 🙏

🚧 🦺 New project underway! 🦺 🚧
Our first couple of days into the school holidays have been busy over at Inkpen Primary School, starting our first project in collaboration with West Berkshire Council and Trigon.
With the site safely secured we have started the careful deconstruction of a derelict classroom and toilet block to add additional outside playground space that’s more usable for the school and it’s students.
Looking forward to this one being delivered to our high professional standard in plenty of time for the start of the new school term. Always good to be involved with the local community too!

Our dual aspect extensions over in Goring at the r

Our dual aspect extensions over in Goring at the renowned Mill Cottage, former home of the late George Michael, were completed earlier this year in spring time for the landscaping team to add the finishing touches to the external works!
With a wonderful day room connecting the kitchen it includes a fully opening slider system allowing the whole corner to open and allow for a wonderful area to integrate internal to external along the iconic Thames location.
On the front we made space for a grand entrance way with boot room, home office and gym overlooking the river and front of the property, connecting seamlessly to the existing home. All this was wrapped with a limestone tumbled paving slab to the garden connecting the front and the back.
Hoping to update with some final images once the garden has settled into the season! Keep an eye on the website too for a full set of finished photographs!

A small build update on our Westview project 👇
With the Underfloor heating pipes down and the structure of these large extensions completely formed we have begun to move on to closing up the space.
Screed was laid through the ground floor to finish off a perfectly flat insulated subfloor with lovely underfloor heating. Ready for tiling!
Currently internally we have 4 separate bathrooms being prepped for install, starting over the next few weeks.
Externally we have Doors and windows going in this week to close up the space as well the final roof finishes.
Our external drainage works and retaining wall are also well underway to form a lovely two levelled garden that performs with the tricky ground conditions.
Keep an eye on this one, these next few months will be massively visually progressive as we work to finishes!

Check out this build update on our project in Ball Hill! 👆
This double extension and complete refurbishment project has been moving along well over the last few months… With the large external structures forming the new kitchen and living areas we can begin to see how this space will work for our client.
Working simultaneously, the remodelling of the internal existing spaces with new steels and sub floor has not only improved the layout and functionality of the existing structure but also the integrity of said structure. The weather being kind to us is also always a bonus this time of year.

Two weeks in to our new Tydehams project and it is progressing along well, even with challenging conditions to overcome such as the no dig piles to protect the surrounding trees.
With these deep piles now in place, along with the mesh reinforcement cages, we can start creating the shuttering for the concrete slab to form our ground bearing base and begin to start building a structure in no time 👀

With only some external landscaping to be done in the appropriate months the clients are happily enjoying their new space.

We handed over this lovely space at the start of February to two very happy clients 🥳
This stunning newly built home is the perfect blend of modern elegance and comfort. The spacious open plan kitchen and living area serves as the heart of the home with underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and a log burner for those cosier days. The kitchen is equipped with sleek cabinetry, a large island and a quartz worktop while the living area is bathed in natural light creating a warm inviting atmosphere.
The lovely master suite boasts a huge divided glazing section from floor to ceiling with a Juliette balcony. All while featuring ample space along with a dressing room fitted with custom made storage and a master en-suite with a dual shower. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to provide both functionality and style.
Only a couple of weeks remain for the BMR team on the externals before we move on to our next venture. Keep an eye on our website for the full project photos then!

Our goring project at Mill Cottage at George Micha

Our goring project at Mill Cottage at George Michael’s former home is coming along nicely in the autumnal sunshine, allowing us great external progress on our flood defense system with the retaining wall being built this week.
The beautiful sliding sunflex doors are due to go in over the coming weeks so we can move to internal finishes inside during winter.

Our Wargrave project is coming along nicely, with the scaffold now removed we can see how this dwelling will sit amongst its surroundings and behind surrounding external works.
Internally the upstairs area is receiving plaster allowing us to work towards internal finishes. We are into the exciting final stages of this timber framed new build home 🏠

Another satisfied returning customer for us here in Newbury and a pleasure as always to work with familiar faces 🙌
It’s lovely when the finishing touches go down and we are able to bring our clients designs and specifications to life. An updated master en-suite bathroom with illuminated niche pockets in the shower and a grand mirror, making for a very spacious bathroom. Some landscaping including laying a new patio and turf was also undertaken completing the side of the property in time for the summer that’s yet to come 🤔
